Work Visa

ATTENTION: When filling out electronic visa application form on website visa.kdmid.ru please choose the place of submission - Russian Visa Centre (Sydney). The answers to the questions on the visa application form must be exhaustive.  Applications without a cover letter will not be processed until the fully completed form is received.


Work visa is issued to Australian Citizens and other nationals who are the holders of Australian residency visa for an  entry into the Russian federation for work purposes based on an  invitation issued by Russian MIA with possibility of further stay/visa  extension period by the Russian MIA agency on the territory of the  Russian Federation.


The basis for further stay / visa extension period may be an  employment agreement or a civil contract, either work or service,  concluded according to the Russian Federation legislation.


Work visas can be applied for single, double or multi entry  and issued for the period of 30, 90, 180 or 365 days (even more in certain cases, based on the dates provided in the invitation obtained from MIA). The duration of stay in the Russian Federation with a multiple-entry visa may not exceed 90 days within any 180 days period.


Visa are issued accordingly to tourist voucher or any other visa invitations entry and exit dates.

Necessary Documents

In order to apply for a work visa you must submit the following:

  1. The original of the invitation issued by the General Administration of  the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation;
    OR 
  2. The decision of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on issuing a visa to the Russian Federation;
  3. Passport with no less than 2 empty pages for visas, valid for  1,5 years starting on the visa effective date (the exception is a visa  for highly qualified specialist - the passport must be valid for a  minimum of 6 months after the day of visa expiry);
  4. Electronic Visa Application Form, filled out in Russian or  English, and printed double-sided from the following website of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Sydney: https://visa.kdmid.ru.  (Please follow the instructions for the procedure, available at the  above mentioned website, provided in Russian as well as other languages,  including Japanese). Travelvisa2go can assist to fill in the visa application.
  5. One passport size (3.5 x 4.5 cm) clear photo in color taken full-face directly facing the camera and against a plain white or light-colored background. Only non-tinted prescription glasses and head covering worn daily for a religious purpose or as a part of national costume (in this case the same head covering must be  worn in the passport photo) are allowed and to be taken no later than   six months before the date of application.
  6. Negative HIV-test result (a blood test) as per required form. This medical certificate must be issued within 90 days prior to the day of application.
  7. If you are not an Australian citizen please check the  additional requirements for the citizens of your respective country, to check the additional information contact Travelvisa2go directly.
  8. We recommend you to obtain medical and travel insurance policy.  Our consultants can assist you to obtain insurance policy accordingly to your needs; an amount of coverage for medical services of at least 30,000 euros or an equivalent amount in another currency, valid for the entire period of the intended trip to  the Russian Federation (for citizens of Austria, Australia, Belgium,  Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Denmark, Israel, Ireland, Iceland, Spain,  Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands,  Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Germany, Finland,  France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Estonia). When requesting a multiple-entry visa insurance policy should be valid for the period of first entry.

Important! In case you have two or more valid passports, please make sure there  are no valid Russian visas in any of the passports before submitting  your visa application.


Please note! The Consular section of the Embassy of the Russian Federation may  request additional supporting visa documents, invite you for an interview or extend  the time of visa issuing procedure.


Please note! If the applicant is not an Australian citizen, you must additionally  provide: A visa status obtained via VEVO for more than 180 days.  Depending on national legislation, documentary evidence of continuous  stay in Australia for more than 180 days may be a student or work visa,  work permit, temporary residence permit, temporary residence permit  (visa status obtained via VEVO).


Visa application for minors under 18 years of age: 

If visa application is filled on behalf of children under 18 years of age, copy of birth certificate of applicant and the copy of front page passport of parent must be included in the supporting documents.
