ATTENTION: When filling out electronic visa application form on website visa.kdmid.ru please choose the place of submission - Russian Visa Centre (Sydney).

The answers to the questions on the visa application form must be exhaustive.  Applications without a cover letter will not be processed until the fully completed form is received.


Ordinary tourist visa is issued to Australian Citizens and other nationals who are the holders of Australian residency visas. Russian Visa is issued for a short-term stay and is based on a tourist acceptance confirmation issued by Russian travel agencies / tour operators who are registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.


A tourist visa is issued for the following purposes:

  • tourism (visiting cultural events, excursions, sight-seeing)
  • short-term business negotiations
  • exhibitions, auctions
  • medical consultation or examination


Tourist visas may allow single, double or multiple entries to the Russian Federation. The below conditions should be respected:

  • The maximum period of stay in the Russian Federation with a single or double entry tourist visa is up to 90 days.
  • Multiple entry tourist visa can be issued for a period of 6  month. The maximum period of stay in the Russian Federation with a  multiple entry tourist visa is 90 days.


Please note!

Cruise Ship and River Cruise passengers arriving / stopping at  Russian Sea Ports (Big and Passenger Port of St. Petersburg,  Vladivostok, Vyborg, Kaliningrad, Korsakov – Sakhalin Oblast,  Novorossiysk, Sevastopol, Sochi), tourist traveling on-board large  cruise ships do not require a visa if the following conditions are met:

  • The overall period of stay in the Russian territory is no longer than 3 days (72 hrs.)
  • Tourist stay overnight on-board the cruise ship
  • Tourist go ashore only as a part of a group of passengers on the excursion organized by the cruise travel company


Tourists intending to go ashore independently, and NOT take part  in the cruise tour company organized shore excursions will require a  visa. Single entry visa will suffice even if the passenger is disembarking the ship more than once while remaining in Russian waters.


Visa are issued accordingly to tourist voucher or any other visa invitations entry and exit dates.

Necessary Documents

The following documents are required in order to apply for a tourist visa:


A tourist confirmation issued by the Russian organization that provides tour operator services and is listed in the Unified Federal register of tour operators.This document must be issued on a single prescribed form "On the  admission of foreign tourists", signed by the responsible person and  bear a stamp of a Russian tourist company. If tourist services are  provided by different tourist companies, tourist confirmations of every  company should be provided. On the basis of this confirmation the applicant can request a single entry  visa for the dates mentioned in the confirmation. The confirmation must  contain the following information:

  • the name of the document "Confirmation of hotel reservation", its number and date of issue;
  • the name of the hotel, its actual address and registration  number in the Unified list of classification hotels, ski slopes and  beaches;
  • information about the foreign citizen to whom the  confirmation has been issued (full name, date of birth, gender,  citizenship, passport number);
  • date of arrival at the hotel and date of departure from the hotel.

  1. A valid passport or other valid travel document certifying the  identity of a foreign citizen and recognized as such by the Russian  Federation. A passport or other valid travel document presented by a  foreign citizen must not raise doubts about its authenticity and  belonging to its owner, contain marks, reservations, entries, erasures  and corrections not certified by the competent authorities of the  relevant foreign state, torn out or unsewn pages, must have at least two  blank pages intended for visas. As a rule, the passport must not expire  earlier than 6 months from the expiration date of the visa.
  2. Electronic Visa Application Form, filled out in English, and printed from the following website of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Sydney: https://visa.kdmid.ru.  (Please follow the instructions for the procedure, available at the  above mentioned website, provided in Russian as well as other languages,  including English).   3. One passport size (3.5 x 4.5 cm) clear photo in color taken full-face directly facing the camera and against a plain white or light-colored background. Only non-tinted prescription glasses and head covering worn daily for a religious purpose or as a part of national costume (in this case the same head covering must be  worn in the passport photo) are allowed and to be taken no later than   six months before the date of application.

  5. We recommend you to obtain medical and travel insurance policy.  Our consultants can assist you to obtain insurance policy accordingly to your needs; an amount of coverage for medical services of at least 30,000 euros or an equivalent amount in another currency, valid for the entire period of the intended trip to  the Russian Federation (for citizens of Austria, Australia, Belgium,  Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Denmark, Israel, Ireland, Iceland, Spain,  Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands,  Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Germany, Finland,  France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Estonia). When requesting a multiple-entry visa insurance policy should be valid for the period of first entry.

Important! In case you have two or more valid passports, please make sure there  are no valid Russian visas in any of the passports before submitting  your visa application.


Please note! The Russian Federation Consular Offices in Australia may request  additional supporting visa documents, invite you for an interview or extend the  time of visa issuing procedure.


Please note! If the applicant is not an Australian citizen, you must additionally  provide: A visa status obtained via VEVO for more than 180 days.  Depending on national legislation, documentary evidence of continuous  stay in Australia for more than 180 days may be a student or work visa,  work permit, temporary residence permit, temporary residence permit  (visa status obtained via VEVO).


Visa application for minors under 18 years of age: 

If visa application is filled on behalf of children under 18 years of age, copy of birth certificate of applicant and the copy of front page passport of parent must be included in the supporting documents.
