Private Visa

ATTENTION: When filling out electronic visa application form on website visa.kdmid.ru please choose the place of submission - Russian Visa Centre (Sydney).  The answers to the questions on the visa application form must be exhaustive.  Applications without a cover letter will not be processed until the fully completed form is received.


A Private Visa is issued on the decision of the head of a diplomatic mission or consular office (Russian Embassy in Canberra or Russian Consulate General Sydney), upon written invitation from a Russian citizen inviting a close relative (the term includes the following relatives: spouse, parents (or adoptive parents), children (or adopted children), spouses of children, brothers, sisters, step-brothers, step-sisters, grandparents, grandchildren.)


The invitation should include full information about the inviter and the invitee, as well as the itinerary and details of residence for the foreign invitee in Russia.


This private invitation can also be certified by a notary public in Russia. The certified hard original copy must be sent to Australia and provided on the day of the visa application lodgement. 


The applicant will be responsible to provide the original invitation document upon their return to Australia. 


Please note that the confirmation of relationship is required (including changes of names). All copies of documents must be certified by a notary public as true originals .


A foreign national traveling to Russia on the basis of a private visa to a close relative can stay in Russia throughout the full validity of the visa. 


The one-year private visa allows a foreign national to stay in Russia for 1 full year until the visa expires with no limits on the number of days spent in Russia.


Please note:

Private Visas for a foreign parent of a child who is a Russian national:

A foreign parent of a Russian child can obtain a Russian Private Visa on the basis of an invitation from the second parent of the child, subject to having a valid Russian passport.

This solves a common issue when a child’s parents are not married, and the foreign parent does not fall into the category of a close relative (see above)


For 1-year visas: 

If the applicant intends to apply for a multiple entry 1 year visa which allows to stay in Russia for more than 3 months, he/she will need an HIV-certificate in order to apply for the visa, including children of any age with an exception for spouses, children and parents of Russian nationals  who are not required to provide.


For private multi entry visa; one year term, medical insurance must be provided for the first 180 days.


Visa are issued accordingly to tourist voucher or any other visa invitations entry and exit dates.

Necessary Documents - Close Relatives

In order to apply for a visa for close relatives, a Russian citizen must submit the following documents:

  1. Application for entry into the Russian Federation, containing  the information required for a visa (surname, name, patronymic, date of  birth, citizenship, gender, passport number, registration address and  address of the actual place of residence of a Russian citizen (in case  of residence in the territory of the Russian Federation) , as well as  surname, first name, other names, date of birth, citizenship, gender,  passport number, multiplicity of visa, purpose of travel, requested  period of stay, place of intended residence of the person applying for a  visa and cities planned to visit), signed by the applicant (Russian  citizen) personally, or  certified by a notary on the territory of the Russian Federation.

  2. A valid foreign passport copy of a citizen of the Russian  Federation (page with a photo and personal data).
  3. Documents confirming relationship with a foreign citizen:
     
    • for spouses: marriage certificate or an extract  from the State or Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in  Australia, or for any foreign country. 
    • for children, parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents,  grandchildren: child’s birth certificate, or an extract from the  State or Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in  Australia in relation to the child, containing information about the  name of the child, the date and place of birth, as well as information  about parents (mother, father, their names, case/file number), which  confirms relationship with Russian citizen. 


 

ATTENTION!!!
When submitting an application to Travelvisa2go, Russian citizen must provide original or certified copies of documents confirming relationship with a foreign citizen.

When a Russian citizen draws up an application through a notary in the Russian Federation, the applicant submits to Travelvisa2go notarized copies of documents notarized in Russia,  confirming relationship of Russian citizen with foreign citizen. Copies  are made from the notarized copies; the notarized copies are returned to  the applicant.
An extract from the State or Territory Registry of Birth,  Death and Marriages in Australia must be apostilled. Documents obtained  from Australian departments do not need to be translated into Russian language.

Documents not drawn up in English or Russian and obtained from any other counties must be translated into english or russian language by an authorized translator and certified.
 

  1. A valid passport or other valid travel document certifying the  identity of a foreign citizen and recognized as such by the Russian  Federation. A passport or other valid travel document presented by a  foreign citizen must not raise doubts about its authenticity and  belonging to its owner, contain marks, reservations, entries, erasures  and corrections not certified by the competent authorities of the  relevant foreign state, torn out or unsewn pages, must have at least two  blank pages intended for visas. As a rule, the passport must not expire  earlier than 6 months from the expiration date of the visa.
  2. Visa application form filled out on the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Sydney website visa.kdmid.ru, printed and signed by the applicant personally.
  3. One passport size (3.5 x 4.5 cm) clear photo in color taken full-face directly facing the camera and against a plain white or light-colored background. Only non-tinted prescription glasses and head covering worn daily for a religious purpose or as a part of national costume (in this case the same head covering must be  worn in the passport photo) are allowed and to be taken no later than  six months before the date of application. 
  4. When requesting a multiple-entry visa: negative HIV certificate (NOT required for spouses, children, siblings).
  5. We recommend you to obtain medical and travel insurance policy.  Our consultants can assist you to obtain insurance policy accordingly to your needs; an amount of coverage for medical services of at least 30,000 euros or an equivalent amount in another currency, valid for the entire period of the intended trip to  the Russian Federation (for citizens of Austria, Australia, Belgium,  Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Denmark, Israel, Ireland, Iceland, Spain,  Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands,  Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Germany, Finland,  France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Estonia). When requesting a multiple-entry visa insurance policy should be valid for the period of first entry. 
  6. Residency status - VEVO check in Australia or Australian passport of inviting party.


Please note! If the applicant is not an Australian citizen, you must additionally  provide: A visa status obtained via VEVO for more than 180 days.  Depending on national legislation, documentary evidence of continuous  stay in Australia for more than 180 days may be a student or work visa,  work permit, temporary residence permit, temporary residence permit  (visa status obtained via VEVO).


Visa application for minors under 18 years of age: 

If visa application is filled on behalf of children under 18 years of age, copy of birth certificate of applicant and the copy of front page passport of parent must be included in the supporting documents.

Necessary Documents - Shared Value

In order to apply for a shared value private visa , the applicant must submit the following documents:

  1. Application for person applying through Travelvisa2go
  2. An application for a visa to a foreign citizen who shares  traditional Russian spiritual and moral values (addressed to the Consul  General).
  3. A valid passport or other valid travel document certifying the  identity of a foreign citizen and recognized as such by the Russian  Federation. A passport or other valid travel document presented by a  foreign citizen must not raise doubts about its authenticity and  belonging to its owner, contain marks, reservations, entries, erasures  and corrections not certified by the competent authorities of the  relevant foreign state, torn out or unsewn pages, must have at least two  blank pages intended for visas. As a rule, the passport must not expire  earlier than 6 months from the expiration date of the visa.
  4. A completed visa application form. Visa application form filled  out on the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Sydney website  visa.kdmid.ru,  printed and signed by the applicant personally.
